You two have been writing a book for years.

Msgpress turns your messages and your photographs into a hardcover you can put in their hands.

Chapter four

The Umbrella Year

Iris

It is absolutely pouring and I forgot a coat again.

Theo

Stay exactly where you are.

Theo

I am the one outside with the terrible umbrella.

Iris

You walked twenty minutes in this.

Theo

Nineteen. I ran the last bit.

48

Two people sheltering under one black umbrella on a rain-slicked street at night, shop lights reflected on the pavement
Outside the Ludgate, the night neither of us checked the forecast.
Iris

We should do the rain more often.

Theo

Only if I get to pick the umbrella.

49

A sample spread. The people, the messages and the chapter are invented.

What ends up on the page.

Three things go into the book, and you choose every one of them. Nothing is scraped, nothing is guessed.

  • The messages you would never delete

The first night you talked until it got light. The argument you both got wrong. The plans, the nicknames, the two words you send when the day has been long. You choose what goes in and what stays private.

  • The photographs that go with them

The kitchen, the coast, the bad haircut year. Every picture is placed on its own page with real margins and a printed caption, so it reads as a photograph rather than an attachment.

  • Chapters, so it reads like a book

Years and seasons become chapters with titles and a printed contents page. The book opens at the beginning and ends somewhere, instead of scrolling forever.

Two mugs of black coffee and a folded newspaper on a wooden table, one hand resting on the paper
Two coffees and the paper, the way most Sundays start.

The book itself.

Not a photo book with screenshots dropped into it. A hardcover made by a book printer, meant to be picked up and put down again.

What early access means.

Plainly, because there is nothing to buy yet.

  1. First look at the samples

We are making sample books now. You see them before they go anywhere else, cover, spine, pages and all.

  2. A say in what we build

Four quick questions after you join, and we read every answer. The book you would make shapes the one we make first.

  3. The first invitations

When the first books can actually be made, this list is asked before the page is.

What you are not committing to.

No payment, no card, and no chat to upload. Nothing is for sale yet, we have not set a price, and joining does not place an order. One click in any email takes you off the list for good.

Somebody has to print it.

Join the early-access list and we will show you the first couples samples as they come off the press.

The messages are still there. They are just not something you can hold.
